January in The Bahamas would be considered as one of the best months to travel. Temperatures seldomly drop below 64ºF (17ºC) with a high of up to 77ºF (25ºC). This is a very popular time for tourists who want to escape colder climates. Southernly islands such as Acklins/Crooked Island, San Salvador, Inagua and Mayaguana experience much hotter temperatures than our most Northernly neighbours, Bimini, Grand Bahama Island and Abaco.
Things to do: if you missed the opportunity to see Junkanoo (local carnival) on Boxing Day, then don’t despair, there is always New Years Eve. Failing that, visit the National Art Gallery in Nassau where you can get an insight into our historical past, cultural development and a taste of contemporary Bahamian Art.
