The People to People programme is pioneered by the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Nassau Bahamas.
The concept of this programme is to allow visitors to meet and spend some time with a Bahamian family, who are all registered volunteers with the Ministry of Tourism. Its main objectives are to foster communication and the exchange of ideas, and to advance international friendship.
Ministry of Tourism personel match volunteers and visitors according to age, interests and occupations. Volunteers arrange to meet their guests at an agreed time and location. You could experience numerous activities such as hosted lunches or dinners, a local church service or the highlight of the programme is the tea party at Government House, held on the last Friday of each month (January to August). Approximately 200 guests attend and are greeted by the wife of the Bahamian Governor General.
