The Islands of The Bahamas has once again proved that they are on top of the Caribbean’s most sought after destinations. This is according to Caribbean Journal who awarded The Bahamas with two distinguishable honours in its Caribbean Travel Awards 2018: Best Caribbean Destination and Best Caribbean Tourism Minister. Caribbean Journal is the world’s largest website covering Caribbean travel and tourism.
According to officials, the destination had the most impressive growth in the region, which has been largely attributed to the increase in airlift from major cities, hence a surge in visitor arrivals. The opening of Baha Mar was also a key factor in tourism growth. However, the most significant change is the amount of visitors arriving to the ‘Out Islands’ of The Bahamas.
According to The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism and Aviation Officials, stop over arrival have soared by 18 percent from January to October 2018. Expedia travel has also reported that room night sales have grown by 30 percent and forward bookings are up by 9.2 percent.
The Caribbean Journal officials have commended The Bahamas Minister of Tourism, Dionisio D’Aguilar for his role in the significant growth in tourism numbers and for giving the destination an active regional presence in the Caribbean in both the public and private sector.
These latest awards come on the heels of The Islands Of The Bahamas being awarded the World Travel Awards’ World’s Leading Luxury Island Destination and the World’s Leading Wedding Destination.
